Timothy Cathey M.D.

Dr. Cathey is the Medical Director for the Emergency Preparedness and Response Service at the Oklahoma State Department of Health.  He also serves as Medical Director for Protective Health Services, including Long-Term care. Much of his effort focuses on creating and improving health system response for time sensitive problems such as strokes, heart attacks and trauma.  He is currently devoting much of his time to H1N1 influenza response efforts.  

 He received his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma.  He underwent residency training in both Arizona and North Carolina.  He is currently board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.  He serves in the Oklahoma Air National Guard as the chief of Aerospace Medicine and deployed to three overseas tours, including two to the warzone in Iraq since 2007.

Prior to coming to the state health department, Dr. Cathey was in private practice in rural southeastern Oklahoma
