Tulsa Partners, Inc. is pleased to announce the topics and speakers for the next two Green Bag lunches, which focus on areas of interest to “green” homeowners. Each “Green Bag” lunch is on the 4th Friday of the month from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm.
“As part of the outreach of the Green Building Resource Library, we wanted to provide opportunities for the general public to learn about sustainable, disaster-resistant technologies they can use in building or renovating their homes,” explained Tim Lovell, Executive Director of the nonprofit organization.
Speaking June 26 is Tom Rorabaugh of Vision Lighting Sales. He will address the use of energy efficient indoor/outdoor LED lighting. While LED lighting is in use in a number of commercial venues, technological advances are making it more practical for some residential applications. Tom will discuss where LED lighting can be used in homes and neighborhoods today.
The July 24th speaker is Michelle Barnett, P.E. CFM. Michelle is an engineer with URS Corporation and a Tulsa Partners board member. She will explain low-impact residential development, including the use of rain gardens, permeable paving, and rainwater harvesting. Michelle reports that URS is very involved with Kansas City’s 10,000 rain gardens program.
For each Green Bag event, the public is invited to bring a lunch and stay for the presentation at the Tulsa Partners Office at 2327 E. 13th Street (13th and Lewis). The Green Building Resource Library is also available for browsing from 9 am to 2 pm on Fridays, as well.
